Willie Dee Poynter, 66, of Danville, died Friday, July 8, 2011, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. Born in Lancaster, Ky. on December 22, 1944, he was the son of Walker and Mary Mae Johnson Poynter. Dee was the owner of Poynter’s Floor Covering. He was a hunter and fisherman and enjoyed his garden. Dee was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by two daughters, Tojnia (Larry) Kidwell of Crab Orchard and Shelly O’Bryan of Danville and a son, Kelly (Delletta) Poynter of Parksville; five sisters, Norma Fansler of Stanford, Diane (Kinnaird) Boyd of Stanford, Addie (Jim) Stroxtile of Stanford, Carol Woodall of Stanford and Hattie (David) Grant of Lancaster; a brother, Tommy (Ruby) Poynter of New Port Richie, Florida; a sister-in-law, Kay Poynter of Elizabethtown; nine grandchildren, Brittney (Matthew Groves) Lyons, Craig Lyons, Cameron Foster, Ty Foster, Remington Foster, Weston Poynter, Summer Poynter, Dakota Caron and Olivia Caron and twenty nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by a brother Boots Poynter.

The funeral service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday at Stith Funeral Home. Rev. Dale Denton will officiate. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Craig Lyons, Cameron Foster, Weston Poynter, Ty Foster, Remington Foster, Randy Boyd, and Luke Wright. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Miller, Ronnie Poynter, Ron Westerfield and Bill Elliott. Visitation will be after 5 p.m., Monday at Stith Funeral Home.
